Tech Tip Tuesday – Free PDF File Creation

/, Tech Tip Tuesday/Tech Tip Tuesday – Free PDF File Creation

Hi!  Eric Murcia here with another episode of Tech Tip Tuesday.  Today we’re going to be talking about PDF files and how to safe to a PDF file without having to buy any sort of expensive software like Adobe [Acrobat] Pro or anything like that.

Print to PDF File Explanation

I have a sample PDF file here.  I’m going to open it up just to demonstrate what I’m talking about.  Inside of Windows now, there is a builtin function that Microsoft has in there.  It will allow you to print from a Word document, Excel document, or a web page.  Pretty much anything that you can print from will allow you to select from your list of printers, “Microsoft Print to PDF”.  That is literally all you have to do.

Print to PDF File Walkthrough

You come in here (the print dialog).  Select it (Microsoft Print to PDF).  Hit print.  It pops up and asks you, “Where do you want to save that file?”  I’ll call it “testpdf”.  Save it to my Desktop.  It’s going to go ahead and print all five pages for me.  I go in there (to the desktop) and take a look.  There is my PDF file.

That is the easy way to print to PDF from almost any application that will allow you to use a Windows printer.  It’s built into Windows, and you didn’t have to buy any expensive software.  That’s your Tech Tip for this week.  I will talk to you again next week.
